Spreading the Love and the Mulch: a Green Road update

On Trees and Other Miracles: a Green Road update

Our Green Road Saturdays—our work days on the site—started last week. Last summer’s derecho left 12 trees down—mostly tulip trees with their top heavy foliage and weak root systems—as well as 4-5 others that were unstable.

Today, we had eight tireless volunteers hauling logs, which the Navy cut up for us. If you stop and think about the tons of wood we need to move, the job seems kind of impossible. Yet everyone is as cheerful as can be, not an unkind or impatient word is spoken. The key is staying present in the moment and enjoying the nature that surrounds us.

Institute Presents Panel at Martin Luther King, Jr. Health Equity Summit

The Institute presented a panel discussion, “Integrative Health – Integral to Health Equity,” at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Health Equity Summit. It defined integrative health and examined the integration of mind, body, and spirit into the African American cultural understanding of health.
