The Healing Power of Painting

A journey of self-discovery through creative expression

Whatever your ability, creating art can have a positive impact on your health and well-being. Scientific studies have found that making art can reduce stress and anxiety, prevent depression, normalize blood pressure, and support the body’s immune function.

This course consists of four sessions. Each includes a lecture and slideshow presentation, as well as time for painting and sharing your work.

You may work in your choice of medium: acrylic paint, oil paint, or watercolor, as well as colored pencils.

Guided by Afsaneh Faridi, an experienced teacher of integrative healing art, you will:

  • Create meaningful art that tells your story
  • Learn to tap the power of positive energy that is inside you and in nature
  • Explore the themes: strong, calm, and free
  • Learn and practice techniques for sharpening your senses and becoming more present
  • Hone your artistic skills with your choice of acrylic, oil, or watercolor, as well as colored pencils
  • Learn fundamental concepts of color, the color wheel, shadows, and grayscale
  • Be part of a community with which to share and discuss your work
