JOEY'S MOM ON MISSION THRIVE SUMMER

Joey was a Baltimore City high school student when he took part in Mission Thrive Summer. Here's what his mother had to say about her son's experience:

“Before, he would only eat tomatoes if they were on a sandwich. He never ate fruit. Now he loves to sample things, and that's what's important. He's willing to try things. Joey brought home a tomato plant they gave him at the farm. He's on the computer researching how to care for it." Read more

Walking the halls of his Baltimore high school with a backpack full of chips and soda, Damonte was known to his friends as the “junk food king.”

Like many of his classmates, he shied away from the school’s lunch offerings, opting instead for processed snack foods from the corner store, two blocks away.  Read more
